چکیده
Abstract Background Enterocytozoon bieneusi , a microsporidian species, is zoonotic pathogen found in both humans and animals. Here, we determined the prevalence, explored different genotypes of E. wild rhesus macaques ( Macaca mulatta ) (Hainan Island China), assessed their potential. Methods We collected 173 fecal specimens from living Nanwan Monkey Island, Hainan, China. Subsequently, identified genotyped using nested PCR analysis amplification internal transcribed spacer region (ITS) rRNA gene. Lastly, neighbor-joining tree was built based on gene sequences ITS E . Results Of macaques, 26 (15%) were infected with six which five known: PigEBITS7 n = 20), D 2), Type IV 1), Peru6 (n Henan-III novel genotype: HNM-IX 1). From phylogenetic analysis, here all clustered into group 1. Conclusion This study first report to detect infection Human-pathogenic D, Henan-III, Peru6, PigEbITS7, support these animals have public health significance.

Localization of persistent Enterocytozoon bieneusi infection in normal rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) to the hepatobiliary tree.
Enterocytozoon bieneusi is the most common microsporidian parasite recognized in human patients with AIDS. Recently, we identified a virtually identical organism causing a spontaneous infection associated with hepatobiliary and intestinal disease in simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV)-infected macaques. To examine the natural history of the infection, we examined captive rhesus macaques for E. ...
متن کاملOccurrence of Enterocytozoon bieneusi in Donkeys (Equus asinus) in China: A Public Health Concern
Enterocytozoon bieneusi is an important zoonotic parasite. It can infect virtually all animal species and has a global distribution. However, the prevalence of E. bieneusi in donkeys (Equus asinus) has only been reported in Algeria and Spain, and no information is available concerning genotypes of E. bieneusi in donkeys worldwide. In the present study, a total of 301 donkey fecal samples (48 fr...
متن کاملVicarious Reinforcement in Rhesus Macaques (Macaca Mulatta)
What happens to others profoundly influences our own behavior. Such other-regarding outcomes can drive observational learning, as well as motivate cooperation, charity, empathy, and even spite. Vicarious reinforcement may serve as one of the critical mechanisms mediating the influence of other-regarding outcomes on behavior and decision-making in groups. Here we show that rhesus macaques sponta...
متن کاملGenotypes of Enterocytozoon bieneusi in Livestock in China: High Prevalence and Zoonotic Potential
Despite many recent advances in genotype characterization of Enterocytozoon bieneusi worldwide and the exploration of the extent of cross-species transmission of microsporidiosis between humans and animals, the epidemiology of this neglected disease in China is poorly understood. In this study, a very high prevalence (60.3%; 94/156) of E. bieneusi infections in farmed pigs in Jilin province was...
متن کاملgamma-photon irradiated rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta)
Rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) have been used as non-human primate (NHP) models for a number of stress-related situations [1, 8, 9, 11, 16, 17, 21]. A key aspect of United States (US) animal welfare regulations [18, 19] is that pain, distress, and discomfort should be minimized whenever possible. The refinement of our experimental procedures is an important technique to improve animal welfare...
